List of the Acidity of Foods and Drinks
Consider the best thing about your favorite drinks... THAT ZING,.. "THE TANGINESS"!
If your favorite food or beverage has a bit of a citrus or acidic bite to it, then the second or third ingredient is probably an acid. It may be on the way to causing you amazing dental pain, and permanent loss of your enamel. (Even if you have otherwise perfect teeth!)
Many beverages that we think are better for us than soda are actually VERY acidic, so they can literally dissolve your enamel away over time - molecule by molecule. If "citric acid" is in the ingredient list - You are in trouble. Some are nearly as acidic as battery acid. Check out the following list to see where your favorite stands. (The only good pH is neutral - like plain water.)
The following is the most comprehensive list I have ever found to compare the acidity of foods and drinks. Look at the first column, labeled Acid (pH). Keep in mind that you should compare your favorites to the first few entries here: Battery Acid, Vinegar, and Stomach Acid are around 2.0 to 2.4 !.... (oh my!... Gatorade is 2.4!)
