Cosmetic Bonding

Cosmetic Bonding is the process of adding tooth colored plastic to reshape and/or reshade the teeth. Every week I (Dr. Lynda) do some remarkable smile "make-overs" with this simple and economical technique.

Cosmetic bonding lasts 5 to 7 years and will need to be polished and "touched up" from time to time. It can make an enormous difference in your smile if it is done by an extremely artistic and experienced dentist.

Not every dentist is going to be comfortable suggesting cosmetic bonding to you, because it takes quite an artistic flare and a lot of practice. But our team has been changing lives with cosmetic bonding for 20 years now, and we still surprise ourselves every week with some of the remarkable transformations we can produce - often for people who have been embarrassed about their smile for many years.

The next photos are from a lovely make-over that we did for a gal who was congenitally missing 2 front teeth. So instead of four front incisors (the "square" teeth up front), she only had two square-ish teeth and two sharp canines. It's looked a little odd so she had braces to get the front teeth as good as possible, and then we filled in the remaining spaces with tooth colored plastic. We made the pointed canines look like incisors, and matched the color perfectly. What an improvement!

After insurance, his out-of-pocket expense was less than $300. It saved this young business man  the  $6000 that he would have had to invested in braces.




The next set of BEFORE/AFTER photos here demonstrates the extreme to which I can use cosmetic bonding to transform lives.  In most cases a nice smile "make over" can be finished in one visit, and can cost a 10th of what crowns might cost.

Many of the other pictures here show less extreme, but equally important improvements.

BEFORE This man had been told by 2 other dentists that the ONLY option he had to restore his smile was to invest over $10,000 in crowns and root canals. He had been using photoshop to paint his teeth in on his Christmas cards every year as they got worse and worse. He waited another 5 years before coming to our office for a consultation after a friend had encouraged him to give us a try.	AFTER It is very difficult to do this kind of make-over with simple cosmetic bonding, but I've been doing it for so many years that it's a pleasure. This cosmetic bondng transformation cost less than $1,600 and his insurance paid 80% of that!

	This is the smile of a fellow who had cosmetic bonding done 15 years ago. He didn't even know that it could be redone! That's the magic of cosmetic bonding: it is completely reversible, so we just removed the old bonding and the next photo is his AFTER picture!

	This fellow's front tooth always "stuck out" a bit, so when he fell in the shower, it was the first thing to hit the floor! (You can see his lip is pretty puffy from the trauma as well!) Too bad!.. He lost a big chunk of it!
	Here's what the tooth looked like after I finished doing some cosmetic bonding. I think it probably looked BETTER than it was in the beginning as I made it a bit shorter and narrower to improve the way it seemed to stick out too much.
	This gentleman had lived with an unusual bite and spaces between his teeth his whole life. He never knew there was any way to improve things without jaw surgery and braces.
	After Cosmetic Bonding, he was a whole new man! (Many of our male patients who have beards and mustaches, will shave them off after we have transformed their smile to something they can be proud of!)
	The BEFORE picture here shows a common type of misshapen tooth that dentists call a "peg lateral". This fellow had lived with this strange pointy tooth his whole life and he also had never been told that it could be easily improved. AFTER we placed the cosmetic bonding, this tooth was 100% natural looking!

	AFTER.... But we managed to do it quite beautifully!

	BEFORE... Here is a business woman who was missing a right incisor,.. AND she had a "peg lateral".. AND her teeth were yellow!
	AFTER... My Cosmetic Bonding affordably made her whole smile look like it was shifted to a more balanced position. It whitened her teeth,.. AND we made all the teeth look the right size.
	BEFORE... Over 60,.. people's lower front teeth show much more when they smile and talk. When the teeth are worn down, chipped and stained orange like these, the smile looks 100 years old! AFTER.. My cosmetic bonding affordably addressed all the problems here and turned back the clock 25 years! (It's the one body part we can do that with! ha)
	BEFORE.. This was a 16 year old girl who would not smile if you paid her. She hated her teeth. Mom and Dad could not afford braces. AFTER.. When we handed her the mirror, she burst into tears and we could barely get the mirror away from her. I even surprised myself on this one!
	BEFORE.. This patient had very low expectations for her teeth because all her family had dentures and a pleasing smile was not a priority. She started with a terrible overbite, but this picture was take after the braces had come off. I convinced her that her smile was worth investing in further,... (I knew she could have a "Julia Roberts" smile!)
	AFTER.. And after our Cosmetic Bonding,... she did!
	BEFORE... This gentleman had great teeth but for some reason they were yellow, and his two front teeth were remarkably narrow.
	AFTER... He used our home whitening system and then we made his cosmetic bonding match the new whiter color of his teeth. He was delighted!
