Twinkles Dental Jewelery
We should start by saying that we offer Twinkles "tooth jewelry" as an excellenct alternative to facial piercings and/or tatoos which will always leave permanent scarring on the lips, nose or brow. Twinkles are a completely reversible "social statement" that young people often want to make.
That brings us to the most important fact about Twinkles .... When fashion statements change, so can you! Twinkles are completely reversible and will leave no permanent or apparent changes to the tooth when they are removed some day.
Product and company history
Like many successful fashion trends, Twinkles started in Europe. Twindent is a Swedish company, originating from a family owned dental practice that developed the product and business model of Twinkles.
After an initial launch in Scandinavia, Twinkles quickly moved throughout the European market where it has settled into a robust, continuous business.
In cooperation with dental supply companies worldwide, Twindent currently distributes 80% of its production overseas and its product's market spreads from Canada and USA to Japan and Australia.Awarded 4.2 out of 5 stars by Reality Esthetics, The parent company, Twindent, is reputable, safe, and with some of the Twinkles proceeds, it also supports charities that place cavity-preventing varnishes on impoverished children's teeth all over the world.

Fiddlehead Dental will be donating all the profits from our "Twinkles"rocedures to The Fiddlehead Foundation. (Our Foundation page can be accessed from the home page.) We see this as a perfect match up: abundance meets the needs of scarcity.
The fee to have a Twinkle placed is $96. (Gift Certificates Available) There are some expensive and more elaborate Twinkle designs in the catalogue. Some of the more expensive designs could be an additional $10 to $50.
How do you have a Twinkle placed?.........
1. First you will come to our office and chat with Kathy or Karen, our Twinkles Coordinators, about the jewel design that you would like. We have some jewels in stock or you can look through a catalogue if you'd like something we don't keep on hand. Kathy or Karen will give you (or your guardian) an informed consent form to read and sign which describes any of the limitations and possible problems that you should be aware of.
2. We will schedule you for a 30-minute procedure, at some future date, to have the Twinkle bonded to your tooth.
3. When you arrive for that appointment we will simply polish the tooth, apply a bonding agent to the etched enamel precisely where you have told us to place the jewel, and then press the jewel in place. The resin material that holds the jewel in place is then light-cured for several seconds and you are done!.
Someday, when you would like the jewel removed it is approached the same way and orthodontist removes the brackets from a patient's teeth. Then, it is simply a matter of polishing off the resin-bonding agent with a very fine diamond-polishing tip.
The Twinkle designs that are available can be seen in a cataloque at our front desk. There may also be some designs at http://shop.twindent.net/faq.php . There is a British web site that shows some of the designs, but not all.
