AcuCam intra-oral camera

... onslaught of new camera models.

AcuCam®

We have 9 intraoral cameras at Fiddlehead Dental; one in every treatment room. Our cameras (AcuCam III) are still considered to be among the best dental imaging technologies ever made. Even after 10 years and the advent of digital imaging, these analogue cameras still have the best resolution we've ever seen. Your "dental IQ" will increase dramatically from the new level of knowlegde you will gain by seeing what we see in your mouth..... We know it sounds strange and at first glance this might seem like "too much information", but we have been amazed at how comfortable and knowledgable our patients have become since we have introduced this wonderful communication tool. Our patients have an amazing understanding of thier dental issues and they can trust their own eyes whenever we are explaining thier problems.

We also use the cameras to improve the detail of our work! Our specific cameras have fabulous image quality, ease of use and have been reliable, long term aids in allowing us to do even more precise dentistry. Imagine how useful it is for us to check something from an image that is 17 inches in size, rather than relying on the limitations of a tiny dental mirror that is less than an inch across.

We also have computer networking that allows us to store every tooth picture in a "virtual chart" that we will have access to at any time from anywhere in the office. Features:

  • The camera is about the size of a toothbrush in your mouth.
  • State of the art optical system with an adjustable focus range of 1 mm to infinity
  • True color reproduction
  • Wide angle of view (62 degrees)
  • Macro focus adjustable to 110X magnification

Our staff and patients both give it their highest rating as far as technology that REALLY makes a difference.

Here is some fun that we've had with the cameras..........

Let's play "Can you guess what this is????"

KEY:

#1 is a kidney stone that a patient brought in to show me. Now I'm not really sure why she thought I'd like to see it, but I took it as a compliment that she thought I'd be interested..... And I was! Just look at this thing! It was about the size of  asmall of pea. Yikes! That must have been a painful passing.

#2 is a blueberry seed so tiny that it would fit on the head of a pin with room to spare. Who knew it would look like the surface of the moon?

#3 is a patriotic moment that came together one day when a kid came in to have her teeth checked just after eating some kind of bright red candy. Kind of makes you want to stand up and sing "God Bless America".

#4 is the back of a young man's head who came to visit the day after he and his aunt (a hair dresser) had gotten creative with some bleach. We thought it looked like a bath mat, vintage Austin Powers.

5. is a tongue ball.... the largest tongue piercing we've ever seen. At first I thought it was a door knocker! (These things can get expensive - often causing broken teeth that cost thousands to repair or replace.)
