Daily Fluoride Tx

ANYONE WHO HAS more than 4 fillings (or "beginner" cavities that the dentist has under close observations)....
would benefit greatly from an effortless Fluoride treatment as a part of your current routine before bed. With this tip you might postpone or completely avoid cavities for years and years.
The following routine is what Dr. Chuck and I do to keep ourselves out of our own dental chairs! (Hey,.. we don't like it any more than you do!)
Essentially, you are going to brush with Prevident 5000 every night before bed instead of using regular toothpaste,.. AND you will change one important part of the brushing process. (read on to learn the trick)
Here's the simple steps:
1. Ask us to call your pharmacy to order you a prescription for a special toothpaste. (Your medical insurance prescription card should cover it.) It's called Prevident 5000.
**We sell the Prevident right in the office (for just what it costs us) if you don't get a break on your prescriptions, or if it's easier for you to just pick it up from us. (It is $12 per tube, and that should last 4+ months.)
2. Right before bed, use the Prevident instead of your morning toothpaste. Brush in a thorough pattern that covers every side of every tooth... BUT.... DO NOT RINSE WITH WATER AFTER BRUSHING. Instead, Just spit the extra in the sink .
3. AND THEN... do your flossing while a little of the paste is still gooped [that's a technical term.. ;) ] on your teeth - This in order to drag the Prevident between the teeth and under the gums.
4. Do not rinse with water!! Then just go directly to bed, having absolutely nothing more to eat or drink.
***Your saliva stops while sleeping so the Prevident sits on your teeth with the highest concentration for the longest time then. That's essential to understanding why this process will change your dental future. You've got to let it have contact with your teeth as long as possible in a high concentration.
The reason we don't recommend using Prevident for morning brushing is that if you brush with Prevident in the morning, and then eat breakfast and grab a cup of coffee, the Fluoride has very little time to do its best work. It will just wash away and be wasted.
So,.. nighttime brushing, right before bed, gets the biggest bang for your buck.
We also recommend this routing to everyone in the following situations:
- - People who have teeth that are very sensitive to cold
- - Anyone who wants to protect their investment in their crown and bridge dental work.
- - Anyone who is getting cavities on root surfaces.
- - Folks who've come out of braces with a lot of white spots (decalcification.)
- - Soda/Sports drinkers
- - Moderate to severe gum recession patients (with or without sensitivity)
- - Dry mouth sufferers
- - Radiation/chemotherapy patients
- - Bulimics (and gastric reflux sufferers)
